This is the southern-most city in the world. Its Museo del Fin del Mundo - The Museum of the End of the World - has a number of interesting rooms dedicated to the indians, nature, local history and the shipwrecks that have happened in this area.

• THE BEAGLE CHANNEL AND THE NATIONAL PARK OF TIERRA DEL FUEGO
In this national park there are examples of sub-antarctic forest. This is the home of the red fox, guanaco, beaver, condor and duck. From the park there is a beautiful view over the Beagle Channel with its mountainous islands with their unique species of flora and fauna. The bay of Lapataia is particularly beautiful, with its many sea birds and the remains of the shell beach used by the Yaghane indians.

Here, there are facilities for long-distance skiing, impenetrable forests, peat bogs and lakes like Lake Fagnano and Lake Escondido. 10 km. from Río Grande, the Regional Museum of the Salesian mission exhibits material about the Ona indians, fossils and geological finds, and examples of the flora and fauna of the region.
