RÍO GRANDE
The pass called Paso Garibaldi is spectacular in autumn due to the red leaves of the lenga trees. Here, there are facilities for long-distance skiing, impenetrable forests, peat bogs and lakes like Lake Fagnano and Lake Escondido. 10 km. from Río Grande, the Regional Museum of the Salesian mission exhibits material about the Ona indians, fossils and geological finds, and examples of the flora and fauna of the region.
Other places of interest
The Estancia María Behety has one of the world's largest sheep-shearing sheds, with a capacity for 5,000 sheep. From Cabo Domingo there is an excellent view of the sea. |
