Open Mondays through Fridays from 8a.m. to 1p.m. and from 5 to 9p.m.
This
museum is under the authority of the National University of Tucumán
and functions inside the Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center. It was created
for the purpose of enhancing the Indian cultures that inhabited
this region and granting them due recognition. The exhibit covers
the periods comprised between the Stone Age and the stage of pone
-making. Maps and charts provide a clear description of evolution.
Cultures are described in chronological succession. From the Ciénaga
culture to the Aguada culture, and from this group to the Santa
María and Belén cultures. Exhibits include metal pieces, axes, wickerwork
and zoomorphic vessels.
Aguilares
Aguilares is on national route No. 38, 86km. away from San Miguel
de Tucumán.
