Open Mondays through Fridays from 11a.m. to 8p.m.
This
museum functions in the house where the local sculptor, Juan Carlos
Iramaín, lived. Amongst other monumental pieces, this artist produced
the statue of Christ the Redeemer that crowns cerro (hill) San Javier.
The museum was created in 1973 for the purpose of preserving the
works made by this sculptor over the course of 50 years, as well
as other works that were given to him by other Argentine plastic
artists. Amongst the sculptures on exhibition by this artist is
his series known as "Minerals", the original cast of the San Javier
Christ, and a gigantic head of general Manuel Belgrano. There are
also self-portraits, heads of children, and portraits of peasants
made by Iramaín during the last years of his life.
