The
construction of this house dates back to approximately 1860, and
it is the only building of its kind that remains on the block. Its
pilasters, cornices, moldings and wrought iron railings are typical
of the Italianizing architecture in vogue during this period. The
house has 15 large rooms built around four courtyards. The house
was commissioned by governor José Frías' daughter and her husband,
Dr. Ángel Cruz Padilla, and remained in this family's possession
until 1972 when it was sold to the State. This building that harbors
furniture, paintings and porcelain will house the Museum of the
City of Tucumán.
