Open Mondays through Fridays from 9 to 12a.m.
This
museum was inaugurated in 1996 in the former station of the General
Belgrano Railway line. Exhibits include maquettes of wagons manufactures
in Tafí Viejo, lanterns and station equipment. There is also a black
engine dating from the '50s and a narrow gauge Decoville engine
used in the sugar mills. One of its most treasured exhibits is the
so-called 'Nicolás Avellaneda No.1', the first engine that arrived
in Tucumán when the railway line was inaugurated in 1878. President
Avellaneda travelled in this train that was maintained in service
in Río Turbio until 1960.
